AIPTEK AHD 1080P HD Flash Memory Camcorder with 5X zoom

Wow, that's a long name... lets take that apart.

APITEK->Stands for Advanced Intelligent Personal Technologies. This manufacturer was founded in Hsinchu, Taiwan in 1997. APITEK manufactures mainly pico projectors, camcorders, graphic tablets and photo frames.

AHD->Stands for Audio High Density. AHD can carry up to four channels of 16 bit audio. This means good sound quality.

1080P HD->The 1080p stands for 1,080 horizontal lines of vertical resolution. The p stands for progressive scan (this means all the lines of video are drawn in sequence). The HD stands for high definition.  1080p is the highest quality setting on the camera. This quality in marketed as full High Definition.

Flash Memory->Means that the camera saves to a memory card. This also means that the camera can save information without being powered. Not that miraculous.

Camcorder->A camcorder is a video camera that also has the ability to take still pictures. Usually camcorders take lower quality video that regular video cameras.

5X Zoom->When fully zooming in on an object the object is five times bigger than it was before. The quality, however, decreases because this camcorder uses digital zoom and not optical zoom. Optical zoom uses glass lenses to zoom and there is no loss in quality. But digital zoom pixel-chops to fake a zoom.

This camcorder in particular had weak audio. It got dropped a while ago and now there is a constant high pitched ring when recording audio. This camera also has a short battery life and an even shorter battery life when recording in HD.

This camera goes for about $200 on Amazon, and close to $260 on other websites.
